AMPCO® 15
Extruded and Drawn Rods
Description
- A wrought aluminum-iron-copper alloy recommended for medium-duty applications.
- Maintains mechanical properties at temperatures up to 315°C, with a machinability rating of 50%.
- Can be hot worked at temperatures from 760° to 900°C and annealed between 595 and 650°C.
- Delivers consistent superiority through the unique distribution of alloy microstructure, referred to as “AMPCO®-Phase”.
AMPCO® 15 is a consistently superior alloy over commercial bronze. This is made possible through its unique distribution of alloy microstructure, which results in excellent corrosion resistance to sea water and non-oxidising mineral acids. As a result, is recommended when higher ductility is required for cold working, and has a forgeability rating of 75%.
Best used
For cams, bushings, bearing retainer cages, valve stems and guides, sleeve bearings.
Ideally suited for
Medium-duty application involving wear and fatigue.
